I also propose to form with hardwood blocks on concrete and from this room to the Gentlemen's Lavatory, the dimensions of which are also 19' x 10'9". The Lavatory is fitted with basins and dressing table for the toilet and a set of Urinals. Leading from the Lavatory are two Water Closets each 5'8" x 3'6". The walls to Lavatory and WCs, I also propose to face with white glazed bricks and to form the floor with tiles.
A Lantern can also be formed as described on page for Ladies Lavatory.
Access to Pier.
The access to Pier for Europeans is from General Waiting Hall as shown on Plan, and I would point out that the access for the native population being from the East and West sides from Connaught Road, no objection can follow in consequence of allowing coolies or other servants passing through the General Hall.
Attendants' Rooms.
The Attendants' Rooms are shown on Drawing No. 1 "First Floor Plan" and are described on page 4 of this report.
Roof over Pier.
I propose to construct a roof over the Pier for a distance of 90 feet from the wall of the Vestibule.
The roof to be supported with iron columns and trusses of an ornamental pattern and with ornamental cantilevers to support roof when over steps to the Landing stage etc.
The soffit of rafters to roof to be lined with V-jointed boarding placed diagonally, and the roof covered with tiles.
The roof to be finished with finials and cresting of an ornamental pattern along ridge.
On Drawing No. 4 (Section of roof) I show by dotted lines a lantern which can be constructed if so desired.
